Beth just posted a photo an hour over on her blog, so I had to borrow the idea again, and try one for myself!  I had a fun little Saturday.

geeks who drink

Last night we got a little group together for Geeks Who Drink trivia at Moe's BBQ! These guys are so incredibly smart - it's almost scary, but man, are they a good time!

Roey's BDAY & the weekend

This weekend was Roey's birthday! Sadly, I didn't get to celebrate with her, but we made sure to have a little celebration in her honor.
That massive white dog making fun of Oliver's hat is Jake. Haha
Happy Birthday ROEY!

In the process of moving, I set a few things aside to sell in a joint garage sale at Loren & Adam's house.
I really didn't have as much as I thought to sell, so I ended up making about $13 total. That's almost exactly what Karley & I made at our sale in college. We had a fun weekend of catching up and making summer plans!

My roommate's parents were helping remove the tree from the backyard, and they brought over their sweet & very large dog, Jake. I was making dinner and they were all so attentive to my every move. I'm not used to dogs actually being able to reach things on counters, but luckily they're so sweet and well-behaved.

Tiiiiimber

Our backyard was getting a facelift and was almost ready for summer entertaining, and Saturday night, we got a huge storm and there went the tree! Luckily, it fell on the little tool shed & not the actual house. And the light isn't fire, it's just a reflection of the chandelier inside.

Backyard Hike with Kari

Yesterday, I drove to Kari's house in Bailey, CO for what I thought would be a light, little hike. We left right from her front yard and followed what she called a trail, although I think she used that term loosely!
It turned out to be one of the best hikes I've been on...and probably the most calorie-burning as well. We made our own paths, went up, down and around the mountains, climbed over and under fences and got a little lost, but ultimately ended up back on Ridge Road about seven miles later.
We were lost in the middle of someone's land and Oliver found some bones that belonged to a deer or elk. When I started to freak out that this could be this start of a horror movie and whose land were we actually walking though, Kari said, "Don't worry, the mountain lions killed whatever that was and cleaned the bones." I think she was trying to make me feel better, but I definitely picked up the pace and didn't look back!
I just could not get over the gorgeous views and the best part was the dogs were off-leash the entire time!

And here's a tiny video for good measure!

July 4th Weekend!

On July 4th, RJ & I ran our 2nd 5k race together. This one was the Independence Day 5k in Highlands Ranch. It was open to dogs and I wasn't planning on bringing Oliver, but RJ, the non dog-lover, convinced me!
Oliver inspired so many runners along the way with his short, short legs! He was pretty proud to pass a black lab towards the end of the race, I could just tell.
RJ was speaking to him in Spanish & he earned the name "Aceituna," which is "olive" in spanish.
It had a lot more hills than any course I've ran and it was pretty hot, but I cut almost 4 minutes off my time since the Cherry Creek Sneak. We're already planning our next race at the end of this month.

On Saturday, Nicole & I continued are Cherry Creek Arts Festival tradition! I think it might be our 4th year and maybe the best one yet (Here's 2009 & 2011)! To try avoid overheating, we went right away in the morning and finished up right in time for lunch....always the tacos!

On Sunday, Oli & I hiked Lookout Mountain. After reading Wild, I'm more than a little apprehensive about hiking anywhere new, so we stuck to an old favorite. The view never gets old.

ND trip: Reunion & Baby Shower

Last weekend I made my way to North Dakota for a few days! We had an Olson Family reunion on Saturday, and on Sunday, we had Roey & Madeline's baby shower!
It was so nice to catch up with everyone & get in lots and lots of family time!
