The End of Procrastination

Yesterday was the most productive day for me! It was 99% related to the blizzard we got and me not being able/wanting to leave the apartment!
I've been putting off starting a new book I got from audible, Tenth of December by George Saunders. I've read some of his stuff before, so I knew I'd love it, so I'm not sure why I kept putting it off. But yesterday, I started it...and several hours later, I finished it.
It was a pretty dark read, but it had enough humor and quirkiness to not feel overly depressing. Plus, he's such a great writer! I earned my "binge listener" badge from audible. Nerd alert!

Beth's BFF asked me to sew her up a chevron maxi skirt and of course I said yes! (Then I freaked out.) Beth gave me the best pep-talks and words of encouragement, while I planned what to do when the I ruined the skirt and how to fix it and how to tell Amie she wouldn't get a skirt.
I've had the fabric for about a week and yesterday I finally decided to dig in and do some sewing. I used a combination of two tutorials - this one to make the chevron and this one to make the waistband, etc. It's definitely not perfect, but I think it turned out pretty well and it will look so cute on Amie. I'm shipping it off today & let's all hope it fits!

I'm a bit of a soundtrack addict. My very first CD was the Simpsons Soundtrack, bought at Home of Economy in 1996. I borrowed it to a classmate and never got it back. I'm obviously not still mad about it.
A great soundtrack can really make a movie. Nicole & I went to see Silver Linings Playbook this weekend (so good!) and the music was perfect. Right when I got home, I looked up the soundtrack, but I don't think I've found the song I was looking for. I did, however, find this gem and I'm loving it!

A few weeks ago, I saw that Beth had posted a link to an e-book on her BFF's Facebook page called
Crazy Sexy Juices & Succulent Smoothies by Kris Carr. I watched the book trailer and a few minutes later bought the e-book. I've been making spinach smoothies for awhile, but I wanted to expand my horizons and try to sneak more vegetables into my diet. A few days after I bought the e-book, I bought a juicer and I've been experimenting ever since! It's so addicting!
I've juiced beets, cucumbers, celery, carrots, apples, oranges and lemons. I'm starting to get the hang of what juices well and what doesn't! Kris says it's a gradual process to introduce vegetables into the juices (for people who are reluctant about certain vegetables), so I'm gradually adding more & more vegetables to each juice!

Skating in Evergreen

Yesterday, I met Kari & some of her friends for a skating night at Evergreen Lake House. It's not very fun to skate indoors, but it's also not very fun to skate in subzero temperatures (channeling North Dakota there), so this was the absolute perfect combination of a beautiful view & not too cold temperatures - and plenty of space to skate around!

Kari & I wore our matching gigantic cowls!

We ended the night with the best hot chocolate I've ever had!

(Last) Saturday

On Saturday morning, bright and early, I went to Nicole's house to do some Valentine crafting with little Wyatt. Nicole found this thumbprint pendant and had Wyatt lend his thumbprint in the name of adorable Valentine's gifts!
I adapated this recipe a little bit and turned the Greek Yogurt Blueberry Banana Bread into muffins. )I also set aside a little plain batter and added chocolate chips because Starbuck's Reduced-Fat Banana Chocolate Chip coffee cake is my favorite thing, but it is not quite reduced fat enough.)
Nicole told me not to get my hopes up, because Wyatt is a picky eater, but he ate the entire muffin!! He also ate play dough, but that's different!

3 Things from this week

1. This recipe is so delicious! This week Marie voted it as the best entree I've ever made! Despite the jalepeno-induced eye watering problem I had all night, and the rash that appeared on my arms, I'd say it was a major success!
2. I bought new yarn for a project!
3. I'm about to start this book & I just know it's going to be so good!

the weekend

On Friday night, I celebrated a friend's birthday at FUN CITY. It was like Chuck E. Cheese's for adults..and of course, kids too. We played laser tag, mini golf and everything in between.
Don't tell anyone, but I had my gun backwards in laser tag for the first two whole games. The saddest part of that story is that when I finally figured it out and turned the gun around, I still only hit 2 people.
On Saturday, I helped out Kari's friend, who was hosting a fundraiser event at the Sheraton. We were in charge of a few tables at the silent auction. I made friends with the oldest woman there and we all had a fun time!

The Anglin's

Roey & Steve had a canceled flight on their way from San Diego to Fargo and it just happened to leave them stuck in Denver for a night!
We had a pretty tumultuous drive from the airport to my a snow storm, in rush hour, but we got back safe & sound. They came to work with me in the morning so we could make a quick trip to the airport at noon. I think it was Baby Anglin's first visit to a library! She's going to be so smart!
I downloaded a new app called Vine, which lets you take 6 second videos and post them.
Here's my first one! Hi baby!
