The Weekend!

I had a pretty premium weekend, which included mucho time with some of my amazing friends and a lot of time outside!

Beth is sicky, sicky, so that made me sad, but her mama was in town & I got to see her not once, but twice. I laughed so hard at Beth's apartment, I popped a blood vessel in my eye!  They taught me a new card game, Golf! It was super fun & wouldn't you know it, I won!
They basically told me every move to make, but I'll never admit that to Beth. A win is a win, am I right?

Everytime we go to the dog park, people stop me and ask what kind of dog Oliver is, and I usually have a different answer each time.  On Saturday, a lady was so obsessed with him & said her sister had an identical dog. She was so upset she didn't have a camera, so I offered to text her a few pictures of Oliver and she, in return, sent me pictures of her sister's dog (above..Oli's in the middle for reference, because you obviously don't know what he looks like if you read this blog :). That dog is half dachshund, half bulldog.  Their body shape is pretty spot on! Maybe I'll start telling people that's what he is. . .

This is our trip to the dog park this morning...Can you tell by Oli's face that it's before 6:00 a.m.?

The Color Run

On Saturday morning, Nicole & I did The Color Run!  It's basically a 5K race with color stations at each km mark, where colored powder is thrown on everyone.  I think I heard that there were 10,000 people running it.  We walked to the race from my apartment & stopped at Starbucks on the way home and we were seeing racers everywhere.  It was such a blast!

Someone was a little depressed he got left at home. Ha!

this week

This week included...lots of sunrises, a coworker matching lunch at Which Wich. (If anyone asked us why we were matching, we were going to say we were a folk duo called 3 Days 'Til Susan...nobody asked.)

A little cuddle buddy while I was trying to blow dry my took so long, so I had to sit down.

Picking up my packet for The Color Run..more on that later...

Happy Hour at the Hornet with these wonderful people + dessert at Sweet Action Ice Cream

and spotting two more stickers for the collection

Last October I got the biggest kick out of the photos from The Nightmare Fear Factory and I stumbled upon some new photos last week and laughed just as hard.  I get an even bigger kick out of the remix photos.
Enjoy them all here. Some people are just so creative!

happy monday

Here's some serious cuteness for your Monday morning! My niece, Katherine is in the back row, 2nd from the left - ready to dance before everyone else. Ugh, she's cute.

In case you need an extra dose of cute, here you go!

Crafternoon: Wedding Edition

What a successful craft day! This recipe turned out really yummy, Beth finished 50 pom-pom flowers & I finished a little banner for the reception.

Fro-yo break at Menchie's!

Look who we found in the alley!

Things that happened

There's not too much to report over here!
All along, I thought by working Oliver out so so much, miles and miles every day, he'd get tired and be a normal dog - but I think I've made a huge mistake.  He's in better shape than ever and loves to look at his new body.  And, to make matters even worse, I've been leaving the radio on NPR for him all day, so he's getting smarter too!

I bought this new ring that I'm loving! I've been overdosing on berries, getting a *deluxe* pedicure with Beth and working out with the little buff dog.
Beth is on her way over & we're going to craft like we've never crafted before & finish up all Roey's wedding crafts!  I'm making us this new crockpot meal, Greek-Style Slow Cooker Meatballs and Artichokes, so we'll see how it goes!

This photo reminds me of North Dakota - wide open spaces!

P.S. Look who I spied again!

Last night's Bluebird Show

Last night, Lindsay, Kari & I went to the Bluebird to see Matthew Perryman Jones & Katie Herzig.  Matthew is one of Lindsay's favorites, so I gave him a listen pre-show and loved him!
The last song of his set was "Top of the World" and I had just the weirdest feeling I'd listened to it on repeat at some point in my life.  I did a little research this morning and sure enough, it's a cover of Patty Griffin, but I got a hold of it in high school as a Dixie Chicks song. Number 1 below is his version. I probably won't make it further than #1, but if you do, the rest of the songs are great too!

the weekend

This weeknd was colder than most, but I treated it like the most perfect summer weekend.
Each season, I try to make a list of fun things I really want to do.  I stumbled upon another blogger's list, which included "seeing a drive-in movie." I don't think I've ever been to one, so I googled to see what was around Denver, told Beth & we instantly made plans to the 88 Drive-In on Friday night.
Beth used to go to drive-in movies with her family, so she shared all her awesome traditions with me! We had popcorn, gummy worms and hot chocolate.
I can't believe I didn't get kicked out, because I could not for the life of me figure out a way to run my windshield wipers (it was raining!) without turning my car on a little, which caused the lights to go on - a big no-no!  Afterwards, I heard some announcement about turning on your emergency brake, so I'll have to test that out!
We both fell asleep during the movie, but we didn't even care - it was just that fun!

On Saturday, my summery weekend continued with my first bike ride of the season. Beth got a new bike last weekend and she's been taking it everywhere, so I wanted to join in.  We biked to brunch at Annie's Cafe! Besides about a half dozen crying babies in the next booth, it was a nice little breakfast.
I walk by this little store called Wild Flowers every single day, but I've never been in! I wanted to get some plants for my apartment and their staff was 110% helpful! We learned so much and I got answers to the silliest of questions.
I almost decided not to buy this one (below), but sweet Beth bought it for me as a gift.  I don't think she could let it go since it looks like peas - I don't call her Begetable for nothing!

I also got to spend more time with Nicole & her little guy this weekend AND tonight is the premiere of The Bachelorette - the fun just never ends.

Loving Breakfast

I'm working on a few posts from my week, but I had to share this in the meantime.
This video is from my trip to North Dakota a few weeks ago. Joey was up super early and wow, was he hungry! This little dude loves his breakfast.  He kept trying to order room service, so I was an awesome aunt and gave him 2 cookies and 2 chocolate covered potato chips!
(I didn't know I laughed like Beavis & Butthead until just now.)

{pancakes, steak, hashbrown, green beans, a hamburger, fries and a coca-cola}

Nicole, her little guy & I went to the Horseshoe Craft Fair and Flea Market on Saturday.  There was a lot of cute vintage things, but nothing that I just had to have (that I couldn't find on the farm of Bob Olson)!
I just love spending time with these two.

I also love spending time with these two!  This was from our new weekly happy hour.  Kari missed our trip to Pinche's last week, and we wouldn't stop talking about it, so we went back this week.

I had a major kitchen drain problem this morning, which resulted in my kitchen and everything in it being totally soaked.  Dad gave me a plumbing 101 lesson, but I think this is a bigger problem than I can manage. Anyway, I was all kinds of crabby and then I start to skype with this girl - I can't even...She started playing with her hair and I said it looked like she had a toupĂ©e, and it went downhill from there. I want to frame that 2nd photo and look at it every single day. I can't not laugh uncontrollably!

And lastly, a little video to leave you with - I saw it on tumblr this week & have watched it probably ten times since then! Oh, Arthur!

Last Week!

Loren, Adam & I ran the Cherry Creek Sneak again this year. Lindsay & I had the best tacos + margaritas ever at Pinche Tacos - so so so good! And the other two are, of course, Oliver, hard at work.

And last week, I saw my dear, sweet S10 Chevy pickup - or at least it's premium cousin in Colorado.  I miss that little thing!

I was stopped behind this car at a stoplight and the first thing I wondered was if the man was buying trees for his future in-laws.  Of course that thought came from my best friend Karley's wedding and Robby buying crabapple trees for the Balgaard family.

I'll end with the saddest news of the year! My good friend and the only person who can make me physically ill by being so funny, Emily, is moving to New Jersey with her beautiful little family!  That was so hard to type!
We had one last night of home-cooked supper and bad television at Emily's house.
It could've been a really sad night with a lot of weeping, but Natalia kept us laughing and laughing with Mad Libs.  I'll miss you way too much Emily!!
