The Never-ending Drive

We made it from Denver to Northwood in a quick 17 hours. By quick, I mean excruciating. There was a snow storm in Denver, but we drove right out of it...and counted 11 cars in the ditch. We listened to Blindess on audiobook, which was excruciating all on its own. Oliver got a little car sick and we started to get a little loopy, but we're home...all to do it again next weekend.

Santa?!

How did I ever find a friend who would volunteer to finish my Christmas shopping AND bring me a cheeseburger with extra pickles while I slept and slept and slept? Technically, that's a trick question, because Karley found her as a friend first.  Anyway.....
My never-ending headaches are getting less severe and fewer between, but unfortunately, yesterday was not one of those days.
Thanks Beth for being a little Christmas angel!!

Cold no More!

Exhibits A, B and C...a heated blanket from Beth, wool socks from Marie & sweater mittens from Karley.  Gifts from three of my best friends - three of the people I talk to (complain to) the most.  Three things that will keep me toasty, toasty warm!
I must complain about being cold more than I realize.  Either way, I'm one warm gal!

Crafts Forever

My newest project is a little Nintendo-inspired throw/afghan for my nephew.  Every 9-year-old wants a crocheted gift, am I right? I'm not right, but this is what he's getting.  I can get pretty obsessed with crocheting, so I wasn't worried at all about getting it done, but I'm working on a few other things, which means I have a lot of squares left! Ahhh
I first got the idea from Stumpets Crumpets and with any luck, it'll look similar to this.

Yesterday, Nicole hosted a craft day party in her basement.  We were all seriously productive! I finished 40 squares, which is pretty unheard of for me.  I had a serious case of crocheting claw afterwards.
Nicole also provided cute little holiday crafts for us to work on.  For the ornament shown below, you coat the inside of the ornament with Pledge and then pour in glitter.  Genius!

Another Amos Night

Amos Lee is by far one of my very favorite musicians! Beth & I were trying to count the times we've seen him and I think we're missing one...maybe Karley can help!
1. Playmakers in Fargo 2006?
2. Karley & I in Minneapolis (When in the world was this?)
3. Chautauqua Park, Boulder 2007
4. Denver August 2008
5. Boulder Theater, Feb 2011

Anyway, onto #6 or whatever number we're on - at the DCPA last Friday night.
We had such a yummy pre-Amos meal at Osteria Marco.

My favorite song of the night had to be "Careless." Siiiighhhh.

Last Weekend

I'm just now catching up on last weekend. Oops!  On Friday, we celebrated Marie's Birthday!
We ate at the Elephant Bar and then saw Arthur Christmas.  It was the sweetest Christmas movie ever.  What's cuter than a tiny elf?  I kept thinking that someone would die, etc., but it's a kid's movie, so I had to remind myself they'll live happily ever after.

On Sunday, Beth & I watched the Bronco's game and did some crocheting.

I took a little break to do some quick decorating.

And then Beth watched White Christmas for the very first time! WOW! She loved it.  That's what I keep telling myself anyway.
Oh, and then there's Oliver.  He doesn't know what football is, but he kept hearing us talk about it, so he played this, more literal, type of "football" with Beth forever.

(Dog) Jacket Weather

It's getting to be pretty chilly here! Every single dog in my building wore a jacket this weekend, but Oliver was able to hold out until this morning.  I dressed like I was living in North Dakota & I wasn't even cold at all!

Craft Night

Last night, after supper at Beajo's and quick stops at Ulta, Michael's & Joann's, Beth & I had a little craft night to make some holiday wreaths.  They were a little time consuming, but really simple.  Beth's already planning on making more!
We used this little tutorial for the rosettes and we couldn't believe they acutally looked like the picture - so easy!

Let Him In!

Oliver didn't care too much for the snow, but unfortunately nobody let him inside, so we had to keep walking. He tried the same stunt with almost every door along 12th Ave.
