Where are all the squirrels?

This afternoon, I took advantage of the warm weather and went to City Park for a jog.  When we left, it was sunny, but once we got to the park, it started to snow..horizontally...it felt like a tiny blizzard, but by the time we left, it was sunny again. That's Colorado weather, though.
Oliver was perplexed by the icy pond, so he spent a bit of time trying to dig a hole through.

Portlandia

I've been seeing clips from the show Portlandia everywhere & they are so funny!
I couldn't post 2 videos in one post and I couldn't choose a favorite, so I had to add both!  They're funny, because they're true.

My Long Weekend

On Friday, I went skating with Kari & a few of her friends up in Arvada.  I think I'm getting obsessed!

On Saturday, I met Nicole + Wyatt for lunch.  I'm bummed I didn't get a photo, because he is seriously too adorable & he didn't cry at all. He did glare/scowl at me though.
Later, I went with Marie to the mall and didn't buy a single thing.  I think that's worth documenting!

On Sunday, I met Emily + Sally at the dog park. It was sooooooooo muddy!  When we were done, I stood outside the car with Oliver for a few seconds, because I really didn't want him to get in, but I could think of any other option.  Thank goodness for leather seats!

Last night, Beth invited me over for Thai Basil and the Bachelor.  She wasn't exactly in top form, but we had a fun night anyway. She was so so hungover.  And I kept calling her a frat boy, because of her hangover and frat boy beer t-shirt.
Isn't her cowl so cute?  She's going to start a baby blanket, so I'm going to teach her how to do the purl stitch one of these days.
I finished two of the largest-sized squares for my blanket, so that's exciting.  I'd rather do all large squares, because I really hate starting them.

2nd Annual Funyuns Trip...I mean...XC Ski Trip

Last Saturday, Emily, Paul & I drove up to Devil's Thumb Ranch for some Cross Country Skiing.  Emily & I went last year and had such a good time, we decided to go again.  It was a little colder this year and the sun didn't come out until the exact moment we were done skiing, but it wasn't anywhere near as cold (or windy) as XC skiing in North Dakota.
It was Paul's first time skiing (and eating Funyuns), but he did great.
Paul referred to Funyuns as Fun + Onions and that just made me giggle.

Almost everyone on the trail was skate skiing, so we might have to try that next time! It looks like such an intense workout.  I was sore enough doing the classic skiing!

I love this picture!!

Ice Skating!

On New Year's Day, we went ice skating at DU's open skate.  Emily & Natalia have barely been skating before, but they did so good.  I'm already excited to go again. Oh, how I love to skate indoors.
I used the opportunity to test out my new, cute little camera that I got for Christmas.
I managed to get a mini video of them skating.  It gets funnier and funnier each time I watch it.
After skating, we went to see The King's Speech & Natalia cooked us some good luck food, so we're all set for 2011!

Vivid Dreams Blanket, Part 1

Loren & I decided a few weeks ago that we'd take on the Vivid Dreams Blanket.  I sort of ignored the fact that I had never made a granny square in all my life & we bought all our yarn (13 skeins or so) and got started.  I almost returned all the yarn, because I could not get the hang of the squares (see my cemetary picture above), but after many, many youtube videos and some close reading, I started to get the hang of it!

We're trying to keep each other on track (and motivated), so we had a crochet date on Sunday.

Loren's squares! I can't even pick a favorite.  I love them all.

I wanted to write a post without Oliver, but when he acts like this, I just can't leave him out..so I made them tiny.

Christmas at Roey's

Oliver & I made it home just in time for Christmas Eve's at Roey's.  Our drive was at least two hours longer than normal and combined with snowy and icy roads, I just about lost my mind completely.  Even after a good night's sleep,  I couldn't fathom driving one more mile, so instead of driving the 100 miles to Fargo, I drove the 35 to Grand Forks and rode with Bill & Jamie and the kids.
I sat in the back with Joey and once he found out I had YouTube on my phone, it was all over.  We listened to this song about 20 times, and yes, I was singing it all weekend.

Then we napped.

Roey cooked for us & it was sooo yummy!
Katherine got a hold of the Nativity Scene and it looked like a tornado had gone through Bethlehem.  Then, she replaced Jesus with a kitten and called him "Kitty Jesus."
She kept calling the lefse a burrito and she would order one up with butter and cheese.

Then we played Grease for the Wii.

On Christmas Day, Dad, Rose & I drove to Fargo again to celebrate with Roey & Steve.  After supper, we drove around to find some Christmas lights.  Not many people decorated, but it was nice nevertheless.
