Tap Dogs

On Saturday night, Marie & I went to Tap Dogs.  I had little to no expectations, but it was so entertaining!
I tried tap dancing afterwards, but Marie just thought I had to go to the bathroom.
I found a video of my very favorite part, but our "dogs" had much longer shorts.

I went to Nordstrom Rack for the first time and bought some wildy impractical flats.  I was distracted by them all night.  They're just so sparkly.

Oh, and I'm crocheting the leftover yarn from my cowl.  Instead of feeling nice and soft and cozy, this "piece" is probably better suited as a doormat or something used to scrub dishes.  I think it could probably stand up on its own.

Karley + Robby!!

Picture from Chelsey Headrick

Karley & Robby are getting maaaaaaaaaaaaaarried!
This picture is so perfect, that I had to make it extra large.  They're such a handsome couple!!
I'm so excited for their big day and making a few trips to Minnesota this upcoming summer.
I'm so honored to be the maid of honor & the violinist for Karley's walk down the aisle.  I've already started practicing, but how do you practice not crying? I don't know.
From the details I've heard so far, it's going to be an amazing wedding on the Balgaard farm.
I wish I could move to Minnesota for the next 10 months and be Karley's roommate! I love you Karley!!!

The cowl!

I've been crocheting (or my version of crocheting) for a while now, and by a while, I mean a week.  They don't call me "Impatient Mary" for nothing.
So on Thursday, I went to JoAnns and bought some super bulky yarn and started to knit the cowl instead.
I knit using circular needles, which I've never done successfully, but this time it worked (mostly)!  I wish I had used a larger-sized needle, because it started to curl around the edges, but it's not too bad and I'm sure there's a way for me to fix that.
I called Beth on Thursday night asking for some advice about size, length etc. and poor Beth is so sick and I probably woke her up, so this is what she told me,
"Well, if you're going to wear your hair up then, okay, but if you wear it down, I don't know.  And it's like...... you won't be able to see your feet.  And you don't want to end up looking like Santa."
I thanked her for her insight and went along my way.

Thursday night:

Friday night! Done! My hair is up and I can see my feet!

I had a little leftover yarn & wanted to experiment with some stiches and when I looked around, I saw the perfect little test model and there's only so many places he can hide, so there you go.
He's wearing it right now and trying to find a place to hide his bone.  I think it's in the bathroom.

This morning I woke up before my alarm and Oli & I made a city park run.  One of the benefits of waking up so early...we actually had to wait a few minutes to watch the sunrise.

Crochet: Part 2

I love everything about this picture from this etsy shop.  I tried to make a few of these cowls last winter and I can say they were not anything like this one.  I'd love to make one exactly like this!!

Several people have tried to teach me to crochet and I just can't seem to grasp it...or I don't keep up with practicing.  My friend Loren makes such amazing little animals that I'd like to be able to make one day, but I'm starting with the basics.
Rather than spend money on a class, I'm trying to teach myself (again).
Here's the progress I made back in November 2008. Whoooooops!

Compared to that, I think I'm doing pretty good right now.
I obviously keep missing a stitch at the very end, so I end up with an unfortunate looking triangle-type situation.
My first little sad try is on the left and I progressed onward from that.

Hopefully I'll have something pretty to post soon!

This is just too hilarious not to post! Roey & Steve went to Germanfest this weekend and sent me this picture from the Wiener Dog races.
This is Herb.
I can't believe how much it looks like Oli....well, Oli's slightly larger, but also smaller, cousin.
They didn't get to see him race, but they did watch the paraplegic/blind race.
The more she talks about it, the more it sounds made up!

Not a Hoarder

I started doing a bit of light cleaning this weekend, but watching Season 1 of Hoarders on Netflix pushed me over the edge into a full-on cleaning spree.

I can't even begin to discuss that show and I definitely can't talk about the lady with the cats.
So moving on, here's my little bedroom.  It still needs some decorating and a dresser, but it's coming along.

Nothing is safe from being cleaned, including one smelly dog.  He doesn't mind a bath, he just gets really sad.  I wish he smelled more like the pomegranate shampoo and less like just a wet dog.

12 Hour Craft Day

Beth & I dedicated an entire Saturday to making necklaces!  She was inspired by a necklace on Project Runway, which we thought we could recreate with some ribbon.  We also wanted to make some bib-type necklaces with jewels and broaches, etc.

The morning started out great!! Pumpkin spice lattes and an adorable little boy who played guns with Beth in Hobby Lobby! We went to a few thrift stores, and stopped at Thai Basil for lunch.

We're trying to recreate the necklace.....not so easy....

Well, here one is finished, but as you can see, Beth isn't looking so confident about it!

Here's where things started to go downhill!!
I looked like Santa with my necklace, so there you go.

We'll be looking for an occasion to wear these statement neckalces.
It wasn't a total wash, besides these beautiful ribbon necklaces, I finished a bib necklace & Beth started 2, but after 12 hours, to be continued!
Time for a drink.

Taste of Colorado

On Friday, Nicole, Marie & I went downtown to the Taste of Colorado.
There were all sorts of local food vendors & entertainment.  Instead of paying cash for everything, you bought tickets and used those to eat, etc.  I ended up losing a bunch of tickets, but honestly, I would've used them to buy a massive cupcake, so it worked out for the best!

The main reason I wanted to go on Friday night was because Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was playing!  It was just so much fun & there were cute couples all around swing dancing.
Marie & I were in Jazz Band together in high school and we played a few of their tunes.
Here's my fav - I played the low honk note :)

Ray @ Red Rocks

On Monday night, I went to Red Rocks Amphitheater for David Gray & Ray LaMontange.  I'm so in love with Ray's music & combined with the perfect weather, 4th row seats and some super friends, it was just superb!
Ray is so dreamy.

These videos are from the show..the 2nd one is's not a super video, but it was my fav David Gray song of the night.
Watch the 1st one especially - an engagement happens!!

We were stuck in traffic FOREVER & while we listened to David Gray's song on repeat, we played with Beth's Juicy Fruit iphone app.  I can't believe I didn't pee my pants.  The lips move & say the most ridiculous pick-up lines.  It made the time pass.
But, being the excellent guesser that I am, I predicted we'd be home at 12:21..well, what do you know...I dropped Beth off at 12:21.
