Is this what you want?!

Marie showed me this video last week. Apparently this boy's mother canceled his subscription to a highly addictive video game, World of Warcraft.
This is what I do in the morning if I don't get a cup of coffee! Actually, I am quite cheery in the morning, but I think this video is hilarious in a sad way.
Enjoy!

This quilt is done, done, done!

I am happy to report that I've finished another quilt. It was a pain to sew all the layers together and I'll be the first to admit that it ended up very sloppy in some areas. It was so large and I don't have a place to spread it all out, but I tried to make it work.

Sally, our houseguest

For the past week, Sally, the puggle, has been hanging out at our place. I think Oliver loves her/hates her.

I think Sally looks like a lemur in this photo.

Sally's wondering what Oliver did to his nice kennel.

Okay, this is the scariest photo I've ever taken (or seen actually). They are just playing...no one was hurt, but I can't believe a creature capable of looking like this sleeps with me at night!

Birds & Dots! (yay)

I've been browsing Etsy today and I'm so inspired to make a new quilt...even though I haven't exactly finished the last one. I love the birds and I love polka dots in the first set, so if I decide on that one, I'll probably find the rest of the fabrics at JoAnn's or something. If I decide on the second choice, everything would be included, which would be easy.

The Weekend

I finished the front side of the quilt yesterday. I'm still not crazy about the color combination. I have to wait for the backing to come in the mail to finish it.

My friend, Emily, is out of town this week, so I'm dog sitting her little puggle, Sally. Her and Oliver has been playing non-stop (literally) and they finally crashed.

Summer Sewing

Now that my sewing momentum is high and I've forgotten all about the disaster dress, I'm going to attempt a skirt. It's the Beignet skirt from Colette Patterns. I like the red, but I envisioned it in mustard, and when I Googled the pattern, I found that someone had sewed it with a mustard cotton canvas. The buttons look a little intimidating, but we will see.

I also have a few other patterns on my wish list.

The winner is...

I chose a backing for my sunny quilt. So, even if the front looks like a flag disaster, I can still flip it and be happy. I'm trying to finish the front before this arrives in the mail.

On a totally unrelated note, Beth scored some free tickets to "A Bronx Tale" at the DCPA last night through work. She thought it was an opera (awwww Beth, really?), but it was definitely not. It was the story of a boy living in the Bronx in the 60's and all of his little adventures. All of the characters were played by one dude, which was entertaining, but it was sort of like watching someone with schizophrenia. Beth tuned out after 1/2 hour and it took me 1/2 hour to get what was actually happening.
The highlight of the evening was two perfectly made Sugar Plum Martini's at the Limelight!

Sunny Quilt, Take 1

If you recall, I decided to take a break from sewing clothes and concentrate on a pretty, sunny quilt.
I've had the fabric for months now, and now that I finished another quarter of grad school, I have a little bit of time to work on it!
I am horrible at cutting straight lines, so some of the strips I cut are questionable and I'm not 100% satisfied with my color combination, but I'm hoping everything will fall into place. I almost wished I would've used the same fabrics as the photo. I guess there's always next time. I'm really unsure about a backing color as of yet.

This is Oliver after the dog park. He loves to be where the action is, even when he's dead-tired.

Tack me to Fuky Town!

My cousin found this left behind at a park. I love kid art, but this is something so much better. It makes me laugh every time!

Here's the original version, in case you need a little refresher!

On Tonight's Menu. . .

Last night, Beth and I decided to cook ourselves a little supper. Beth is house sitting, so we took advantage of a beautiful home and kitchen and the companionship of two handsome Golden Retrievers.
Beth warned me that one of the doggies is obsessed with fetch. At one point in the night, he brought us a paperclip and a skeleton key to play fetch with.

We went grocery shopping at Safeway and for some reason, Beth pretended that she had a membership card. The cashier called her out. How embarrassing!

We had a salad, some stuffed chicken breasts, coffee/oreo pie and Bailey's and coffee to finish it off.
While you will notice from the photos, I had some issues making the dessert, but it was super yummy, along with everything else.
